The City Council is elected, and each Council person is elected for a duration of a four year term.  The terms are staggered, and elections are held in November.  The Mayor is also elected for a four year term and is responsible for overseeing the direction of the city.

Candidates
An individual seeking elected city office must be a "qualified elector".  This means that person must be a registered voter in the city and reside within city limits.

Deadline for Filing for Office
To file as a candidate for Williamsburg City Council you must register with the the Franklin County Clerk's Office no later than 12:00 noon on June 1 of the election year.
